You are a rare person. Most people are content to work 40 to 60 hours per week making just enough money to cover the bills every month. Obviously, you want something different, and we hope this mini-course will provide you with the information that will set you free for life!
Introduction:
=========
Our mini-course will present to you the key benefits and typical challenges of starting your own business over the course of ten daily lessons. Each lesson builds on the previous lessons, so it’s important you get through each lesson and review the referenced websites each day. If you have questions or want to speak to someone at any time during this mini-course, please feel free to contact me by email (see contact info at the end of each lesson). Now, let’s get started …
Step 1:
====
The first thing you should do before you start any business is determine “why” you want a business. It’s important for you to choose the right business for you … one that will meet your needs and goals.
So, why do YOU want to start a home business? What are you looking for in a business? Spend some time today thinking about this. Write down your reasons. Do you want …
* More Money?
* Freedom and independence?
* Security – where you can’t be fired or laid off?
* Tax deductions?
* Something to do in your spare time?
* To eliminate a long commute to/from work?
* More time with your family and friends?
* To stop moving from city to city every few years?
* To retire from your job early?
* A feeling of accomplishment and self-satisfaction?
Depending on the business you choose, you may be able to achieve several or all of the benefits listed above. Later, we will present a few options where you can actually achieve All of these benefits, but for now, write down which benefit(s) are most important to you.
Step 2:
====
Now, for each item you’ve decided is important to you, think about “why” it’s important to you. If more money is important to you, why is it important and how much money do you need to feel successful? Would an extra $100 per month make you happy? How about $1,000 per week? Whatever the amount, it’s important you know what your goal is so you can get there. Don’t worry about “how” you will get there, we’ll show you that later. For now, just understand what you want and to what magnitude.
If you want more time with your family and friends, how much more time do you want? What would you do differently if you had more time?
Step 3:
====
The next topic you should consider is how dedicated you are to reaching your objective. How important is it to you to have more money, to have a secure income, to have more time with family, to stop commuting 30 minutes each way to work everyday? All change
requires some level of sacrifice.
For example, if you are going to start your own business, you have to give up some of your “free” time to build your business. You may have to give up some TV time. You may have to give up a little family time until your business exceeds your job income; then you can quit your job and have lots more time for family and friends. But in the beginning, nothing happens until you invest some time and effort. How much time can you dedicate to your business? Could you invest 5 to 15 hours per week part-time?
Another important sacrifice you will have to make in starting your own business is you will have to invest some money. Most new businesses cost tens of thousands of dollars by the time you secure a business location, get supplies and materials, advertise your products or services, and hire employees. However, there’s an outstanding business opportunity that will actually reduce your monthly bills presented at http://www.LifestylePublishing.com/MSPWP.htm. This business requires a small one-time start-up fee, but has no monthly fees, expenses, purchases, or quotas required, AND it will actually slash your bills by thousands of dollars per year. In fact, you can even Get Paid just to start and run this business.
Step 4:
====
The final step in selecting a business is to decide what kind of business you want. You don’t necessarily have to decide whether you want a Wendy’s or a McDonalds or whether you want to sell lemonade or books. What you need to decide is what kind of business “system” do you want. Robert Kiyosaki says in his outstanding book, “Cash Flow Quadrant”, when people come to him for venture capital, he’s not interested so much in why this product is better than any other or even so much what the product is. Instead, he is interested in the business “system” the entrepreneur is proposing. This is because the “system” can make or break the business.
So, what kind of “system” do you want? Do you want to open up a shop that sells flowers? Do you want to set up an office in your home to sell guitar lessons? Do you want to buy an established franchise? Do you want to join a network marketing organization that creates continuing residual income? Or would you prefer a fully-automated Internet business that keeps working even after you stop? Think about this … it’s perhaps the most crucial step to your future success.
Final Note:
=======
Incidentally, don’t get hung up on whether or not you’re a “salesperson”. Regardless of what type of business you start, you are going to be a “salesperson” in one form or another. You don’t have to be a high-pressure car salesman or telemarketer, but you do have to present your product or service to create an income.
If you start an Internet business, you’re going to “sell” via the written word. If you open a fast food franchise, you’re going to “sell” food. If you open a Merry Maids cleaning franchise, you are going to “sell” a service. If you join a network marketing organization, you are going to “sell” products. That said, however, if you buy a franchise or turn-key Internet system or even a network marketing business, the “selling” system will most likely have already been set up for you.
Conclusion:
========
It’s absolutely vital that you explore the four steps above at least in your mind, but preferably on paper. On paper is best, but at least thinking about each step is most important! In tomorrow’s lesson, we will explore some of the exciting
possibilities or benefits of owning your own business. We will also briefly discuss the three major types of business entities.
